Advantages and disadvantages to making Contact Log entries
Automatic contact log entries enable you to view a comprehensive record of your business dealings with each customer, vendor, employee or personal contact. While most reports provide a focused view of a particular aspect of your business relationship, the Contact Log can provide a broader view of these relationships, and automatic entries help to ensure the Contact Log is complete and up to date.
Contact Log entries can significantly increase the size of your company file, however. If this information isn't important to you, you might not want to make automatic Contact Log entries, however, especially if your business records a high number of transactions on an ongoing basis. If you think this information may be valuable to you but you're concerned about the size of your company file, consider marking the "Make a Contact Log Entry..." preferences, but purge the Contact Log records you no longer need on a regular basis.
