Here are some hints for you to try if you encounter problems while sending forms or reports to your email or fax application or to a file on your hard disk.
Remember that your email application must be MAPI compliant. While most popular email applications are MAPI compliant, some applications like Lotus Notes may not be. In addition, AccountEdge cannot be used with web-based email. To learn more about MAPI compliant email applications, see Emailing reports and forms.
If your form includes a logo or other graphic image, QuickTime 4 (or a newer version) must be installed on your computer in order for the graphic to appear in your emailed form.
Also keep in mind that when a form or report is saved using the email feature, it's saved as a PDF (Portable Document Format) file. The contact who receives the email must have software that is capable of opening a PDF file. To view a file in PDF format, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free application distributed by Adobe Systems, which is available at www.adobe.com.
In Mac OS X, the default mail program will be set to Mail, unless the setting is changed by the user. If you are using AccountEdge with OS X and are using Mail as the default email program, you must be connected to your ISP in order to send mail. If you are not connected to your ISP, no email will be sent and you will not receive an error message.
If you are running AccountEdge in the Mac OS X environment and your default email program is a Classic application, both the Classic environment and the email program will be launched when you email from AccountEdge. The email will be placed in the mail program's outbox.
If you experience problems when you attempt to fax a document from AccountEdge, your fax driver software may need to be updated. (Outdated fax drivers also can cause problems when you attempt to print reports and forms on your printer.) If you have difficulties faxing, we recommend that you visit your fax software vendor's website to see whether an update is available.
If you are using Mac OS 8.6 or 9, be sure your FAXstf extension is installed properly and has not been disabled.
If you are using Mac OS X and you attempt to fax a form or report from within AccountEdge, you may receive a message stating, "Faxing of reports and forms from AccountEdge is not available on Mac OS X. If you have FAXstf X installed, you can fax documents by printing to your Apple Internal Modem. For more on faxing, see the FAXstf X User's Guide."
To fax from within AccountEdge using OS X, you must first make sure that your Apple Internal Modem appears in the list of devices to which you can print. Then follow this procedure:
If you're having difficulty sending a form or report to a file on a disk in an external disk drive, check to be sure the disk isn't write protected and has enough room for the form or report. If you're attempting to send the document to another computer on your network, be sure you've been given access privileges for that computer.
