If you want to see exactly how your accounts will be affected by a transaction before you record it, choose Recap Transaction from the Edit menu; a window will appear with a list of accounts that will be updated and the amount by which each will be debited or credited.
The accounts that actually are used depend upon the type of transaction you're entering. You may have selected some of the accounts for particular line items. Other accounts are linked accounts that are used to ensure consistent, accurate reports on your transactions. (For more information about linked accounts, see Using linked accounts.)
