Each activity slip is recorded when you press the TAB or ENTER to move to the next line. You also can click the Record button to record an activity slip, but it's not required. In addition, if you click the Single Slip Entry tab, the activity slip you're currently entering will be recorded before the Single Slip Entry view appears.
