To assign a transaction to a category

The transaction window should be displayed.

The Category field appears only if you marked the Turn Category Tracking On field in the System view of the Preferences window. Mark this preference, if it isn't already marked.

1. In the Category field, use the list to select the category to which you wish to assign this transaction.

The categories in this list were created in the Edit Category window. You can also use the Easy-Add function to add a new Category directly from the list.

2. Record the transaction.

If you selected the Required option when you chose the Turn Category Tracking On preference, you must select a category here before you can record this transaction.
