Sales Easy Setup Assistant

Enter historical sales for your customers

Now that you've entered information about your customers, it's time to enter information about any outstanding transactions they may have with your business. These are sales you've made to them that haven't been paid in full, as of the first day of your conversion month; in MYOB AccountEdge, they're referred to as historical sales.

Note: If you have historical sales for foreign customers

Use the following procedure to enter each of your customers' historical sales:

  1. Click the Add Sale button. The Historical Sale window is displayed.
  2. In the Historical Sale window, enter the customer's name. If you can't recall the name, click the arrow button next to the customer name to display a list of all the customers who have records in your AccountEdge system.
  3. The credit terms entered in the Selling Details view of the Card Information window for the customer are displayed. If you wish to change the terms for this sale only, click the arrow to open the Credit Terms window and make changes or additions.
  4. Enter the date the sale was made.
  5. If there's an invoice number or other document number associated with the sale, enter that number in the Invoice # field. Otherwise accept the suggested entry that appears in this field.
  6. Enter a memo -- a descriptive comment that will help you identify the sale in the future.
  7. In the Total Including Tax field, enter the amount still owed to you (not the original amount).
  8. Select a tax code from the list. The calculated tax portion of the amount in the Total Including Tax field displays to the right. Click the zoom arrow if you wish to change the tax amount.
  9. Click the Record button. The historical sale will become a part of your company's permanent records.

Repeat these steps for every sales transaction that hasn't been paid in full yet. When you're finished entering historical sales, the Out of Balance Amount field should be zero.

Multicurrency

If you use the MYOB AccountEdge multicurrency feature, each currency will have its own linked receivables account. The amount that appears in the Total Linked Receivables Account Balance field is the balance for the currency selected. When you select a different currency from the Currency list, the balance of that currency will be displayed in the Total Linked Receivables Account Balance field.

Edit Sale

You can use the Edit Sale button to open the Sale window for the highlighted transaction and change the transaction, if appropriate.

Delete Sale

You can use the Delete buttons to delete the highlighted transaction.

Out of Balance

If a non-zero amount is displayed in the window, see To understand an out of balance amount for possible solutions for returning the amount to zero.
