The power behind MYOB AccountEdge lies in its ability to run on your company's network, with more than one person using the same company file at the same time. Using this power, you'll be able to get more of your accounting functions completed more quickly.
MYOB AccountEdge 2006 allows users to work with AccountEdge company files in a multi-user environment.
MYOB AccountEdge Network Edition:
It is essential to note that AccountEdge Network Edition requires that you start the FileConnect system preference on the host computer where your AccountEdge company file is located. If you do not start FileConnect, the other computers on the network will not be able to access your company file.
In addition, you will also need to move your company files to a specific location in the host computer's file system.
Besides improved network performance, the Network Edition allows you to have your company file located on any Macintosh whether or not there will also be a user accessing the file from that host computer. On the standard version of AccountEdge (not the Network Edition), a user sitting on the Macintosh that is hosting the file can not be in the file while others are accessing it across the network.
Network Edition: Don't forget the Implementation Guide
If you'd like to learn more about networking in general and about how AccountEdge Network Edition works on a network, please refer to the Implementation Guide that was included in your AccountEdge Network Edition package.
Note: To avoid possible irreparable damage to their AccountEdge company files, all networked users are urged to read and understand the limitations that apply to their specific network configurations.
MYOB AccountEdge (Standard -- Non-Network Editon)
In MYOB AccountEdge, a multi-user environment refers to a peer-to-peer setup. It is essential to note that networking with MYOB AccountEdge is subject to an important restriction:
Windows users -- Warning:
Cross-platform networking with AccountEdge and MYOB Premier for Windows is only available to users hosting their MYOB company files on server editions of Windows 2000 and 2003 with Macintosh Services installed.
Note: To avoid possible irreparable damage to their AccountEdge company files, all networked users are urged to read and understand the limitations that apply to their specific network configurations.
MYOB AccountEdge operates a little differently than software programs that don't run on networks. Since your accounting records are vital to your business, it's important for you to understand how AccountEdge works in your network environment. This part can help you prepare to use AccountEdge company files with other users; it also explains what happens when more than one person uses a company file at the same time.
