Making one job a sub-job of another job

If your jobs have components or sub-jobs, you can easily set up your jobs list to indicate which job is a sub-job of another larger, more comprehensive job. You can assign a sub-job to another job by entering the number of the job in the Sub-job Of field.

Find the Sub-job Of field on the New Job window or the Edit Job window.

When you enter a job in the Sub-job Of field, you're indicating that you want the job's expenses and income to be included in the total expenses and income of a larger, more comprehensive job -- a header job.

Only header jobs can be entered in the Sub-job Of field, but both detail jobs and header jobs can be sub-jobs. [Choosing the type of job (Detail or Header)]

When you enter or change the job number that displays in the Sub-job Of field, the job will move to its new sub-job location and will be listed alphanumerically with the other sub-jobs, if any, at that level. (Organizing jobs in four levels)

If a header job is moved to be a sub-job of a different header job, all the detail jobs beneath it, if any, are moved with it.

How sub-jobs are assigned to levels

If the Sub-job Of field is blank, then the level of the job will default to level one.

If the Sub-job Of field is selected then the level of the job will be set to one level below the job level of the job in the Sub-job Of field. For example, if the entry in the Sub-job Of field is a level two job, then the job you're creating or editing becomes a level 3. (Organizing jobs in four levels)
