How User IDs were handled in MYOB software previous to AccountEdge v4 (2004) or AccountEdge Network Edition (2004)
In MYOB software previous to AccountEdge v4 (2004) or AccountEdge Network Edition (2004) you could enter a unique User ID or accept the User ID that was automatically created by MYOB AccountEdge (Default). Any entry in the User ID field could be used to open a company file. User IDs were used to simply identify the actions of each person who performed tasks that affected your company file.
To provide security for a company file in previous versions, an optional password system was available. A Master password had full access to the company file, and Sub-passwords could be created to restrict the access to the company file. Any User ID could be entered, but if a password was created for the company file, the password provided security by restricting access.
Using AccountEdge 2006, the User ID provides access to the company file and can be used to restrict access to certain parts of the company file. Passwords are optional.
