MYOB AccountEdge doesn't require you to close accounting periods.
The things you do to "close" an accounting period are mainly to help keep track of your periodic business activity, so you have accurate historical records to refer to in the future. As a result, the procedure To close an accounting period (Optional) includes only suggestions - but following these suggestions may prove very helpful.
AccountEdge allows you to "lock" a closed accounting period so that you can't inadvertently make an entry in a month for which you don't want new entries. This "lock" affects the month and year you select and all months before it. If you later need to make an entry in a month before the month you selected to lock, simply change your selection here to "unlock" that month and make it available for transaction entry again.
Notes:
If you have sales that resulted in an item having an on-hand quantity of less than zero
If you have purchases that resulted in an item having an on-hand quantity of less than zero
