If you swipe, authorize the payment before you leave the window: Click the Authorize button before the OK button!

In order to receive the proper credit for swiping credit card information, you must authorize the swiped information before closing the Applied Payment Details window. If you close the Applied Payment Details window after you've swiped credit card information but before you've authorized, the information will be regarded as "key entered."
