To restart the FileConnect system preference on the host computer (Network Edition)

The FileConnect system preference must always be running on the host computer if you wish to share your company files with the workstations on the network. If, for some reason, FileConnect quits unexpectedly, you will need to restart FileConnect. When you restart the system preference, it's a good idea to review the port settings, as well, to be sure they are still accurate.

Note:  Do not run FileConnect on your workstations (Network Edition)
  1. FileConnect is activated using the AccountEdge control panel. To open the control panel, launch the System Preferences application from the dock and click the AccountEdge icon.

  2. In the control panel, click the button labeled Start FileConnect to turn FileConnect on. After a moment, the text on the button will change to Stop FileConnect, which indicates that FileConnect is now running.

  3. Click the Port Number tab at the top of the AccountEdge control panel. You can use a specific port to allow AccountEdge workstations to access the company file on the host computer, or you can allow FileConnect to choose a port for you. To use a specific port, enter the number of the port you wish to use in the Port Number field.

Either leave the Port Number field at zero or enter a port number between 49152 and 65535. If you leave the Port Number field at zero, the port will be dynamically assigned; that is, a different port number may be used for AccountEdge each time FileConnect is restarted. For more information about ports, refer to your AccountEdge Network Edition Implementation Guide.
