To add an employee card

The Cards List window should be displayed. (To find the Cards List window)

  1. Click the Employee tab at the top of the window. Then click New.


  2. The Profile view of the Card Information window appears. Enter the employee's name and as much contact information as you care to track. Note that you can enter up to five different addresses and sets of phone numbers by choosing different selections in the Location field. (Using the Profile view - Card Information window)


  3. If you've set up custom lists or fields, or if you want to add a picture of the employee, do so using the Card Details tab. (Adding custom lists and fields)


  4. Click the Payroll Details tab. You will enter all information about your employee, such as personal details, wages and employer expenses, that will be used to calculate his or her paycheck. (Using the Payroll Details view - Card Information window)


The Personal Details view will be displayed. Enter the employee's personal information in each field, particularly the residence code and work code for the employee. These two selections are very important -- they determine the amount of state and local tax that will be deducted from the employee's paycheck. (More details)

  1. Select Wages. Mark the column next to a wage to assign this wage to your employee. (More details)


  2. Select Accruals. Mark the column next to an accrual to assign this accrual to your employee. (More details)


  3. Select Deductions. Mark the column next to a deduction to assign this deduction to your employee. (More details)


  4. Select Employer Expenses. Mark the column next to an employer expense to assign this employer expenses to your employee. (More details)


  5. Select Taxes. Mark the column next to a payroll tax to apply to your employee's paycheck. (More details)


  6. Select Pay History to enter your employee's pay history for the current payroll year. (More details)


  7. Select Time Billing to enter time billing information. (More details)


  8. Click OK when you are satisfied with your entries for this employee. Click New if you'd like to create another employee card.
