If you're upgrading from a previous version of AccountEdge, you'll have to activate your user IDs. If you used passwords in your previous version of AccountEdge, the access rights from your sub-passwords will be available to copy to user IDs.
Activating user IDs
After you upgrade your company file, you'll log on as the Administrator in the Sign-on window. Enter the master password from your previous version in the Password field. If you didn't use a master password, leave this field blank. All user IDs other than the Administrator appear in the User Access window and are inactive. You won't be able to sign on as a user other than the Administrator until you activate the user IDs.
Applying sub-password user restrictions to user IDs
If you used sub-passwords, you'll also see password user IDs in the User Access window. They contain the user restrictions from the sub-passwords created in the earlier version of your company file. Password user IDs have a prefix called PASSWORD. For example, the sub-password called SMITH in the previous version of AccountEdge will become PASSWORD#SMITH in 2004 (v4).
The password user IDs are not valid user IDs, but you can copy their access rights to your newly-activated user IDs using the Copy Restrictions function.
Once the user restrictions are copied to the activated user ID, you can delete the password user ID.
