To edit company information on Form W-3


If you have questions about completing this part of Form W-3, consult your accountant or visit the Internal Revenue Service website.

The W-2 Preparer window must be open before you start to edit the company information that will appear on Forms W-2 and W-3.

  1. Click Company to open the W-2 Preparer Settings window.


  2. Click the W3 Information tab to open the W3 Information view.


  3. If you want a control number to appear on your W-3, enter this number in the Box - Control # field.


  4. Verify that the correct kind of payer is displayed in the "Kind of payer" field. This entry identifies which form you use to transmit your company's payroll tax information to the government. If this entry is incorrect, select the correct kind of payer from the drop-down list. (Choose 941, Military, 943, CT-1, Household Employee, or Medicare Government Employee.) This entry is required on every W-3.

    You can't eFile or print certified copies of any form until you've entered all required information
  1. If this W-3 covers only employees in a part of your business that is identified as a separate establishment, enter the ID number for this establishment in the field labeled Box d - Establishment #.


  2. If you used another Federal ID number (EIN) at any time during this tax year, enter this number in the field labeled Box h - Other EIN used this year.


  3. If any of your employees received sick pay from a third party during the last year, enter the total amount of income tax withheld by that party in the field labeled Box 14 - Income tax withheld by payer of third-party sick pay.


  1. Click OK to record your entries and return to the W-2 Preparer window.
