To link columns in the W-2 Preparer to boxes on Form W-2
The copy of Form W-2 that you want to link must be displayed in the W-2 Preparer window
Important:
You can't eFile or print certified copies of any form until you've entered all required information
- In the grid, click the header of a red column. (Until they have been linked to a box in Form W-2, these headers usually display the title <undefined>).
Note: Some columns are located in the left pane of the W-2 Preparer window
- In the drop-down list that appears at the top of the column, select the appropriate W-2 box to which data in that column should be linked. The boxes that you can link to are:
- Box 10: Dependent care benefits
- Box 11: Choose the type of plan from the submenu:
Nonqualified plans
Non-qualified Plan (N)
457 Plan (G)
- Box 12: Choose the appropriate code from the submenu:
Code A -- Uncollected Social Security or RRTA on tips
Code B-- Uncollected Medicare tax on tips
Code C -- Cost of group term life insurance over $50,000
Code D-- Elective deferrals and employer contributions to a 457(b) deferred compensation plan
Code E-- Elective deferrals under a 403(b) salary reduction agreement
Code F-- Elective deferrals under a 408(k)(6) salary reduction SEP
Code G-- Elective deferrals and employer contribution to a 457(b) deferred compensation plan.
Code H -- Elective deferrals to a 501(c)(18)(d) tax exempt organization plan
Code J -- Nontaxable sick pay
Code K -- 20% excise tax on excess golden parachute payments
Code L -- Substantiated employee business expense reimbursements
Code M -- Uncollected SS or RRTA tax on cost of group term life insurance over $50,000
Code N -- Uncollected Medicare tax on cost of group term life insurance over $50,000
Code P -- Excludable moving expense reimbursements paid directly to employee
Code Q -- Military employee basic housing, subsistence, and combat zone compensation
Code R -- Employer contributions to a medical savings account (MSA)
Code S -- Employee salary reduction contributions under a 408(p) SIMPLE
Code T -- Adoption benefits
Code V -- Income from the exercise of nonstatutory stock option(s)
When you select a box, the Payroll Tax Forms program will extract amounts for each employee from the data in your MYOB Premier Accounting company file and enter any missing data into the appropriate cells in that column.
Note: If you aren't sure which data to link to boxes on Form W-2
- To rename a column that you have just linked, double-click on the current column title in the bottom row of the header to open the Rename Column dialog.
- Enter the new name in the field provided.
- Repeat this process until all the columns that must be linked have been matched to a W-2 box and each column in the grid has the correct name.
