Filing payroll tax forms electronically
Even if you haven’t registered for the eFiling service, you can use your software to eFile Forms W-2 and W-3. The Payroll Forms Service will file your federal W-2 and W-3 forms with the IRS, and will mail the employee copies directly to your employees.
If you’ve registered for both eFile service and the Payroll Forms Service, you can also electronically transmit all of your other state and federal payroll tax forms to the appropriate authorities at tax time.
Once you have registered, you will be provided with an eFile User ID and Password. You will have to enter your registration information before you eFile any payroll tax form.
eFiling confirmations
You will receive two email confirmations for each payroll tax form that you eFile successfully. The first email you receive will confirm that the form was received on the Payroll Forms eFile server, and will contain any billing information that applies to your eFile transaction. The second message should confirm that the form you submitted has been processed and sent to the appropriate government agency.
If you don’t receive these confirmations in a timely manner, contact Payroll Forms eFile Support Center by calling 701-795-9949 or sending a fax to 701-792-0925.
